Expanding the collective understanding of the contributions and impact of gender-marginalized composers is integral to cultivating inclusivity and representation in music. Wikipedia is one of the most accessible platforms when it comes to raising awareness; however, many of the articles present overstate the family and relationships of gender-marginalized composers while severely understating their professional achievements.

Vocal Arts DC (VADC) is dedicated to celebrating and advancing the art of song recital. We provide a platform for both emerging and established vocal artists to share their personal and cultural stories through song with Washington, DC audiences. Our mission is to enrich the city’s cultural landscape by presenting world-class vocal performances and fostering a deeper appreciation for the genre through education, community engagement, and the creation of new work.
