Inclusion Advisory Council

The Boulanger Initiative Inclusion Council works to ensure highly diverse concert programming, education curricula, and commissions within the greater work of the organization. The Council, made up of professional music practitioners and educators, works in an advisory capacity and meets semi-regularly to create standards for diversity quotas, to identify & integrate anti-oppression models, and to work on Boulanger Initiative’s capacity for programming outside of a cis, white dominated model. This strategy-building will be applied to the organization as a whole, with the mission of educating team members on gender and cultural competency to allow the Council to focus on larger scale actions engaging with anti-blackness, colorism, colonialism, imperialism, classism, ableism, and trans discrimination within classical and new music spaces. The Council will work closely with inti figgis-vizueta, the Director of Inclusion and primary liaison for the Board of Advisors and the Executive Director.
